Look for your name and navigate your lineage. Enjoy and let me know what you think. Send me your additional details so that I can update your record.

16 June 2007

I've asked IDX to remove the family tree from the website as I no longer subscribe to their service. I will put the website up soon in a different server.

September 2007

The family tree has now been moved to my domain.

Family Tree Revived

The Personal Roots , a software I use to store the family tree, has been revived. This software runs in Windows 98 and was not upgraded for the simple reason that the text printing became unavailable in later versions.
To revive it, I used a software called Virtual PC, originally developed by Connectix but is now OEMed by Microsoft. The Virtual PC allowed me run a virtual copy of Windows 98 within my WinXP Pro. Thus, I was able to run the Personal Roots. The install came not without a problem though. FoxPro, the database engine used in this program crashes on PCs faster than 333Mhz. Luckily there is still a patch made available by Microsoft and can be downloaded from
http://support.microsoft.com Use the International Version IPatchFB.exe to upgrade the FOXW250B.ESL program.
So, please send me the details of our family tree that can be added to the following pages:

L-R Photo : Lourdes Pascual (31), Liberty Pascual (1), Luisa Siron (?), Rommel Pascual (3). - This photo was taken just after the demise of Ruben Pascual Sr. on the 12th of Sept 1966. Luisa Siron, the oldest living relative then posed for a photo. She lived for another 4 years after this photo was taken.

Celine & Jessica in Melbourne

Celine and Jessica went to Melbourne to attend Lou's birthday party. And how many photos did they took? - Three, and they took it in the airport on arrival. They see their cousin once a year - I was hoping they will be more trigger happy.

Continuum Sax Concert - 20 Aug 2005

Photo taken after attending the Continuum Sax Concert - 20 August 2005, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. (L-R : Jeanne, Tess, Grace & Mereille).

The sound of classical saxophone is a wonderful experience.  The musicians have mastered their instruments that you can close your eyes and hear violins, then every so often, they deliberately add the rough timbre of brass.  The complexity of the music kept me at the edge of my seat, yet they play it with such ease and restraint.

I must admit, however, that it was very hard to warm up to the sound of Gail Priest, the guest Sound Artist. Jeanne coyly refer to it like a Friends episode with Ross playing synthesiser music and everyone pretending to like it. But somewhere in the 4th movement, when she took audio  samples  from the instruments and seamlessly juxtapose it to the quartette - did I began to appreciate what was happening on the stage.

The Cost of Running a Car

The family car is intrinsic in the family budget. We don't really give it much thought on how much we spend to keep it running. Surprisingly, even the ever increasing fuel prices did not dent our driving habits.

However, our kids are growing up and needing to learn a life skill called driving. The family car can not be used for practice as it has a manual transmission and the kids only want to learn automatic cars. (Well, to be fair - Jessica is trying her hand on the manual gears). So we set out to get a second car. Forgetting for a moment the cost of buying the car, and just considering the insurance for a young driver and the registration of the vehicle. NRMA Insurance qouted $2500 to insure the car, plus $1000 to register the car. Since this is a yearly cost, it dawned on me that it costs us $300 per month for the privilege of owning a car - and that's before you can put a drop of petrol to go anywhere. It is absurd I tell you - makes me want to teach my kids how to ride a bike to the train station :-(

Bicentennial Park Bike Hire Schedule

Schedule to man the Park Bike Hire
During the month of September and part of August and October 2005, I will be taking the place of Ivor at the bike hire in the Bicentennial Park near the Sydney Olympic Park. Most of the day will be  organising the public who want to hire bikes for an hour or 2 or for half-a-day. The main task itself is easy but getting there is a challenge.  Sydney does not have an extensive public transport system. Since the job requires using a ute to tow a bike trailer and the logistics of it makes driving to work impractical. Cycling to and from train stations which is around 5 km each way is a necessity. Here are the days I will be doing it.
  1. 28 August 2005 - Sun
  2. 3 September 2005 - Sat
  3. 17/18 September 2005 - Sat/Sun
  4. 24/25 September 2005 - Sat/Sun
  5. 9 October 2005 - Sun

Saturdays are very early start which include cycling to Rooty Hill Station, taking the train to Central Station and cycling to Centennial Bike Hire to pick up the ute. Sundays are late finish which include returning the ute, cycling to Central, train to Rooty Hill and cycling home.
